    Hello and Happy New Year!

I've been busy making zippered bags for essential oils. Have thought about it for nearly a year and finally sat down to make them. 

This one is custom sized to fit six 10ml roller ball bottles. I love applying oils topically via these bottles, and by transferring some from the 15 ml bottles I can have a bottle at home and a bottle wherever I go. 

A sewn in ribbon keeps each bottle in place. AND THE SIX EMPTY BOTTLES ARE INCLUDED!

This bag holds seven 5 or 15 ml bottles.

Also with sewn in ribbon to hold bottles upright and in place.

Merry Christmas!

I'm glad I spent til 9 last night working as a Visiting Angel. It made me really appreciate just sitting on the couch with my number 1 grandson watching Christmas movies today, saying; "I'm so glad I don't have to work today!" 

Life is good. I hope whoever is reading this feels the same way. :-)

I'll start tonight's post off with a tip; John bought this HUGE ficus tree earlier this year and sat it right in the spot where the Christmas tree goes. My first and only concern was, "Where does it sit for the 6 weeks that the tree is up?!" It's right around 8 feet tall so "Nowhere in the house" ended up being the obvious answer. 

We put it just out on the covered patio and strung lights on it to keep it warm at night. I think it's working because it has been out there over a month and hasn't dropped one leaf! (doesn't it seem kinda sad..peering in the window at the Christmas tree?)

In the Dreams Do Come True department, Max received an early Christmas gift tonight. It's called a Cat Cuddler. I'd say it does it's job! I fully expect he'll still be curled up in there tomorrow morning.

Also in the vein of dreams coming true--of all the times I've heard a first grader sing "all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth!" now I can say I know someone who actually got them. :-)

Tonight we went to the annual holiday party for Remax Realty at the Carson Mansion. 

 

I took pics of the interior, but my camera was so low on battery that I couldn't get flash, and even so; in real life is EVER so much better...so apologies all around. But we had a GREAT time with GREAT people and it really does feel like the season now :-)

Today I took a 93 yo client to visit her recently turned 100 yo sister in law at a local retirement home. I tried not to listen to their conversation ("sorry I never call but I just kind of sit here watching tv all day..nothing to report." " yep, me too. I pretty much just sit in my chair all day as well.") as I flipped through my magazine, but I couldn't help but overhear "I see you have mother's ornaments on your tree." Well-- handmade ornaments by the mother of a 93 year old?! Yeah--this gal had to sit up and take notice. They are classic 1960s handicraft and very well done. I apologize for the picture which doesn't nearly do them justice but take my word for it; these pinned and beaded ornaments are a lost art form!

This year I decided to buy my 4 grandchildren books. Specially picked books or book sets for each of them, but nonetheless--books. 

I expect they might think I'm horrible, but I'm just really tired of making the season all about them. Now I'm telling them "You already had your birthday. This is about Jesus' birthday." Surprisingly I'm not getting much grief over that.

The funny thing is, the desire to open the presents NOW isn't diminished. Caleb stood in front of me last night holding his present while saying, "Can I PLEEEAASE open this?! C'mon, I know it's a book!"  :)

Gotta love all the clever uses for scrabble tiles. This was taken at Gemini Vintiques in old town Eureka tonight. The lovely ladies who own the store invited all of us vendors in for 'tinis and finger foods. Was a great time! So glad I get to have a space in there. Like the sign says; there's eight more shopping days! If you're local and looking for just the right gift you may very well find what you need here! On 2nd Street between E & F, across from the gazebo :-)

I made this wreath 8 years ago. I'll never forget how happy I was to find The Nesting Place in Old Town Eureka. A funky little antique shop on 3rd street which I thought was just the very perfect place for it and the rest of my handmade offerings. It didn't sell that holiday season... and every year that I hang it in my own house I am glad for that. But not as glad as I feel for having met Larissa :-)

Tonight was the annual Lighted Trucker's Parade here in Eureka. John and I walked the two blocks by ourselves to watch and take pics. Couldn't help but think of all the times past that we've celebrated with friends on this night. Especially the one in 2005 when Ruben and Tim played music for us right in our living room. Now Tim has passed on and Ruben is severely compromised (no longer able to play) with ALS disease and it's memories like this that can make the holiday season feel sad while reminding us to cherish every moment.
