Hello friends and readers who may actually still have me on their blog readers!
I'll admit, after we got robbed last March it pretty much knocked the wind out of me for the rest of the year. Wasn't sure I'd ever get over that, but life goes on and so do we. Another big thing I must admit to you is that in September I started homeschooling my 6th grade grandson, Caleb. Had tried all the local options: private christian school, public school, and public charter, but Caleb is both dyslexic AND unmedicated ADHD so he just isn't your typical sit and learn what they're teaching out of the box kind of guy. Some days are good and some aren't, but overall I think this is the best thing for him and I'm happy that I have the time to give him. (and it really does take up most all of my time). I've been wanting to share this news for a while now because I've come across pretty cool learning tools, books and ideas that I've wanted to share. I apologize for not having made the time until now, and I promise now that I HAVE broken the ice, I'll start coming on here and posting a lot more often. Promise!
For today I thought I'd bring your attention to these pillow covers I've made out of some vintage, handpieced quilt squares that I acquired some time back. I like them a lot and spent several hours photographing and uploading them to etsy today. I hope some of you may like them, too. :-)
Be back soon!
So good to wander along and find you again. I know you probably found it already but Pioneer Woman has a huge piece on homeschooling with lots of parents inputting...maybe a resource since her kids are older too.

I admire you jumping in there and helping your grandson. One of our grandsons had ADHD and it can certainly be a challenge. He's in 8th grade now and completely off his meds and it seems like his ADHD is gone. So there is hope down the road.
Glad you are back blogging!!!

Hi Jen,
I know it's a LONG time ago but I just found your site whilst looking for a roman blind tutorial and have a question. Could you tell me the diameter of the rings you used - there are so many different sizes I don't know which to go for.
Love your site and thanks in advance for your help.

We are usually on the same page Jen. I home schooled one of my daughters for 5th grade. Back then there wasn't the available materials. But I did it for the same reasons. She struggled and didn't get along with teachers. I feel like it was the best thing I could have done at that time with her. And it proved to her (the middle child) that I didn't gloss over her and I wanted the best for her. I hope she realizes that. And I hope Caleb sees how much you care for him. It does take all your time. And it is worth it. Our children and grandchildren are the most important things. We both know that and live that. Good luck to you and Caleb.
