Paring down, tossing out, organizing, repairing, cleaning. This describes most of what I've been doing for about a month now. I spent last weekend having a table at the monthly indoor flea market and didn't leave til I booked a table for next month. I've reserved a table at the paper arts swap meet to be held at Scrapper's Edge in a couple weeks. (If you live nearby I DO hope to see you there. I'll remind again as it gets closer.) I have TONS o' stuff to get rid of there! I'm also doing a booth at the Crafty Maverick's Spring Show. So between crafting and purging STUFF I'm a busy girl. As usual!
Oh. And of course, selling on ebay and etsy. I've been stockpiling special finds for a year or so and finally got them listed on ebay this week. They're closing tomorrow and by the number of watchers on some of those items it's going to be an exciting end!
I wanted to share with you an idea I had. I lucked in to this huge box of 60+ pieces of 92yo French Limoges china at a local estate sale a couple months ago. Here's a closeup I snapped of the pattern.
Sweet, isn't it? After picking out the chipped pieces to send to my mosaic artist friend Cheryl, I ended up with 8 4piece place settings. As I was trying to decide how to list (all together or groups of plates or individual settings?) it hit me; box them all up all nice and secure and just pack them away for a grandchild who grows up to find something like that to be a super cool gift from the past.
So that's what I did. If all goes according to plan; they'll sit quietly tucked away (because of course I'll forget about them) for another 50+ years at which time I'll die of old age and a great or even great great grandkid will be so very happy to find them. :-)
Must close for now. Taking my favorite boy to see Avatar in 3D at least one more time before it leaves the theatres. That is a SUPER COOL movie if you haven't already seen it by the way.
Just one more thing.
This weekend I hooked up with a roomie, booked a room at the Chase Park Plaza where the event is being held, and secured a flight. Almost time to start getting excited!! Anyone else reading this going to be there? I think there's still time to sign up if you're interested. You'll have to forgive me if I post an occasional reminder between now and then. A girl's gotta have things to look forward to!
PS: Even if you already read about this on Karen's Selvage blog (or elsewhere), it's worth repeating. Go check out Significant Objects . I adore the concept. 'They' take small objects of no value and have people write fictional stories about them. After reading the stories the item no longer seems insignificant. Which illustrates how we as humans assign significance to 'things' based on personal experiences. Then they auction off on ebay the object and the handwritten story and donate proceeds to a charity. I've just really been enjoying going back in their posts and reading peoples short stories. In my spare time. ;-)
