A quick post here before John takes my hard drive to the doctor. It WHIRRRS and groans all the time...I hope it just needs a new fan!
I finally got left alone to sit and sew for most all of yesterday. I'm having fun making 24 single blocks for the quilt shown in the last post. It took most of three hours to do this one seven inch block.
Crazy, huh? It probably took so long because it was my first time doing a pineapple block, but even with practice I can't imagine shaving off more than an hour. It reminded me of this pineapple blocks baby quilt my mother made a few months ago. (pardon the lousy photos)
Pretty fabulous, huh? This adorable quilt is a good reminder of why people don't normally sell quilts. Who wants to work for five cents an hour? Better to give them to someone you love.
So; sweet Caleb, who is such a big boy now that he is heading to camp with the church for the rest of this week, just woke up and picked the number 6. I see that after Dawn and Doe said they already have or are getting their own copy, Nanette was the sixth commenter. I'll be sending the mag this week Nanette. Anyone who hasn't already been there really should go visit Nanette's blog. She maintains it with several of her grown daughters, all of whom are crafty and quilty. Every post is a pleasure to see and read.
Okay. Time to unplug this puppy. Hopefully not for too long!
Damn. I was totally scheming to try and get you to make a pineapple quilt for me. Then I read how it's not worth it for you to make quilts for cash. Damn.

Wow Jen! That is going to be a smashing quilt! I would never have the patience to do that!
Been a long time since we have kept in touch. Can't believe how much your family has grown! Wow....time flies doesn't it. Hunter starts college in 3 weeks.
Miss you

Sorry to hear about the hard drive... but I LOVE that pineapple block! That was one of my first blocks ever when I was about 8 years old. I entered it in the STATE fair and won! (it was a pillow, not a quilt! LOL!) So I have a soft spot in my heart for those... and it will be worth every hour you put into it!
p.s. your grandkids are just getting cuter... I'm talking about the 4th pic. That lil boy steels my heart.

Hi Jen. I figured, since you popped into my blog, I'd pop on over to yours. :) That pineapple block is incredible! WOWWEE! I love doing new blocks. Last summer I did a snail trail quilt for the first time and I LOVED it. Doing it and how it turned out. I can't wait to see what you do with that little pineapple! :)

Wow! I think I would just have to frame the one block. It's amazing but I would never in a million years have the patience to quilt:) You are so talented!!! Good luck to you Jen!

Amazingly detailed block Jen, no wonder it takes so long!! Your mother is a wonderful quilter, and the apple didn't fall far from the tree, KWIM?? :)

Whoohooo! Love it! Who doesn't enjoy seeing their name and being a winner. Thanks Jen!!!! I'm smiling and beaming. Thank you thank you! Yipeee.
I love the pineapple block. I've never ever made a pineapple quilt. Some of them I just don't like. I LOVE the way you colored yours in the corners and made it scrappy. The colors make me happy that way. Its darling. And I love the dot neutral fabric. It makes me want to stop what I'm doing right now and go make this. I can't wait to see more.
The other quilt is very sweet too. The sad thing is when people ask to have you make a quilt for them and then when you give them a price (well under what it is worth - let me tell you!) and the act like you are a nut ball with anything over $50 bucks. They don't get it. And this one is super darling.
Thanks Jen!!!

Wow! I struggle for 3 minutes, much less 3 hours, and my quilting shows as does yours! Great job! I cannot wait to see this quilt.

That block is drool worthy! I love your fabs and colors! The quilt is beautiful too. Mmmm. Yummmmy! I made a "Pineapple Swirl" quilt from one of Darlene Zimmernam's books. I couldn't believe how long it took me to piece the blocks, and not nearly as big as your block. Anyhoo... I made that quilt top a few years ago, and I'm STILL quilting it! I tip my hat to you, Jen.
I agree about the costs of selling quilts - and much better to give them to someone you love!

Good luck with your computer. Love the quilt and really love the pineapple block. So pretty even if they are time consuming.
