I took this photo on Sunday morning with every intention of making a post that day...I keep telling myself I can't post until I update my etsy shop AND my regular webstore...maybe later today...it'll have to be a separate post. Caleb made that card for his mother. I believe he inherited her penchant for glitter! Just when I thought there was no more room for glitter, he'd think of something else he needed to add. We had a good day and I hope you all did too. After Melissa got off work we went and saw Georgia Rule together. Then we came home and had a nice family dinner with the boys. The movie was alright...Melissa cried almost the whole time (which I normally would, too) but I just kinda rolled my eyes at Lindsay Lohan's character most of the time. Jane Fonda, 70 years old, no plastic surgery that I know of; phenomenal. It is my goal to look so cute in Levi's at that age. Which is why I better start right now!
So, first thing's first; thanks for tolerating my fat whininess on that last post. I'm not giving up or in despair, just get awful cranky about this ageing crap now and then. THANK YOU to those who wrote me with words of understanding and encouragement... Gillian; the last commenter on that post...really cracked me up describing the rigamaroll she has to go through to achieve a decent pic! I have to say tho; it's worth it for her! She looks lovely in all her photos!
WIP;s (works in progress to my non-blogging friends and family) all over the house...(which probably explains why the house is in such disarray AND I never seem to complete anything.)
Baby pillows I've been thinkin about for quite a while now. Will I EVER be able to just come up with 2 or 3 designs and crank out several of each? No probably not...I have to reinvent the stinkin wheel no matter what I'm makin and let me tell you it just eats up time!
Collecting bits and pieces for a complete bedroom makeover. It's been almost six years since I've done anything to our room. It's either redecorate or move! I figure if I paint the walls in that far right oatmeal-y color, John won't notice that we have a pink bedroom. shhhh! I'll probably do the headboard in the green, light pink on the antique children's armoire I use, and this lovely material and fringe for the window. There's other stuff I simply HAVE to cross off the to-do list before I can get started.
When Caleb was a baby and Melissa didn't want delivery people or neighbors ringing the doorbell while he napped, she'd hang a handwritten wipe-off board on the doorknob. I saw a hotel door hanger recently that had the 'nesting' connotation used and I liked it, so I'm making these to add to the baby line I swear I'm going to focus on after I sell off all my old stock. Time to move on!
Can you believe I'm still not tired of making these cookie sheet calendars? Probably 'cause each one seems so different. I made two recently, one to keep and one to sell. My gf Karen showed up at that craft sale I did first thing Saturday morning to buy the one for her sis in law. If I ever get this finished I'm thinkin of putting it on etsy. Sure would like my desk top back!
I recently found a sweet Shawnee pig lamp at the thrift store that I'm using on the kitchen counter. I decided his shade needed to be covered in yo-yos, so this is what I'm plucking away at when I go sit on my bed and watch tv at night. Yikes. Look at that ever-growing stack of books and mags! Another work-in-progress just getting through them!
I snapped this up at that antique sale we did last month. It's always out and in my face in the sewing room...waiting for divine inspiration around how to make it a real 'wow'. It's a blanket as it is...just a thinnish sheet of muslin, but I want to somehow make it into a quilt. Click to enlarge and check out the great painting and embroidery this person did so many years ago. It's just a perfectly sweet piece. I got it about three days after Melissa announced that she is pregnant (yes, it's Travis'). Yes, we're going to be third-time grandparents right around the first of December. I swear; she must've made the announcement to us the day after she conceived. I have to admit I was pretty angry at first...how dare she make such a life-changing decision without consulting those of us who support her! (Yes, you may laugh). When John finally said, "You know Jen...maybe this is why we are so blessed and have such a good life, so that we can 'be there' for these kids" I realized it could be a lot worse and I just need to accept what I can not change and get on down the road with it.
My friend Bonnie who comes to town one week a month for work is here this week. She knows that she will not be getting any grandchildren and I feel bad even hinting at a complaint around her so I don't. BUT, the universe did send her an African Grey parrot last Friday. (actually God sent her a fabulously thoughtful husband who went and found the bird). He's only five, and they live to be around fifty, so it seems Bonnie will get to wake up laughing every day for the rest of her life. This is what has happened every morning so far at 6 am :
BrrriiiingBrrriiinngg....BrrrinngBrrrriinnng... "Hello!?....Hi!.....Yeah.......uh-huh........hmmmmm.......Thank God!!.....Not a problem!.....okay....buh-bye!"
It's the parrot. Ringing phone and everything. Oh gosh, what a riot that must be. She says he has over a hundred words and about five distinctly different voices, ranging from low and menacing to high falsetto. Should be fun to have him around!
Fun to have a parrot around??? I think not. Had one for a weekend and thought I was gonna go nuts. But if he makes your friend happy, then that is GREAT!! Congrats on your newest addition. LOVE all your works-in-progress and I look forward to seeing the completed projects. I think you acutally have more projects going than me!!! Love Mr. Caleb's card too. So sweet and I love that you can share these projects together!!!
