The holiday program was a big success last night. Here are the 29 kids that comprise the Kindergarten and combined first/second grades. Caleb is the sheep on the left. His BFF Isaac is the sweetie on his right. I know; they look like puppies. But awfully cute ones, wouldn't you say? Things started to heat up pretty quick as you can see in this next run of photos
Here's the funny part of their misery--I thought I was doing the right thing by offering to make these costumes for the boys, and then planned on donating them to the school for future use. Apparently, unbeknownst to me, a boy in the other class was also slated to be a sheep. His mother got wind that I'd made these costumes and she called me (I still have no idea who she is) and told me I had to make her son one as well so he wouldn't feel bad. I thought about it for a minute...buying more of that messy fabric and going through all that work again...then realized, "nah. It'll just be easier if her son changes his animal." I mean; for all we know there were zebras present at the birth of Christ. And that's what I told her. Remember that scene at the end of Love, Actually... they're attending the kids' Christmas play and there's dinosaurs and I don't know what all else. Anyway...because she couldn't bend my will she then called Melissa and told her "you can't let your son wear that nice costume, when my son is just going to be wearing white pants and a white shirt." Melissa said, "You're kidding, right? After all that time and money my mom spent on those?" My point, and I do have one, is this; look how miserable these boys are...I bet that (somewhat rude) woman would've paid me NOT to make her son one of those costumes! Hah! Oh, in case you're wondering, her son was a wise man instead. :-) And a fine one by the looks of it.
And they lived to tell! :-D
Those costumes are fantastic! A perfect Christmas-Story sort of memory for your boys to cherish. You should keep the costumes and let them pass the sweet misery on to their own kids. They're too fabulous to give up.

HE HE, Michelle took the words right out of my mouth!!! Priceless is definitely the word of choice!!! I love that you stood your ground, I love that your daughter stood up that woman too. Those costumes are so adorable, but then again, everything you make is perfection!
