This is the first piece of 'prison art' I've ever seen in real life.
Caleb's father had *his partner* draw it for him. John and I were completely blown away...not even being able to draw stick people here; we find it to be pretty amazing. We received it, plus a nice letter, this past weekend. It was in response to the letter and pictures I'd finally mailed to Justin; Caleb's father. He is scheduled to be released in just over 2 years. He states he has every intention to come out here and be a part of the boy's life. I don't know how to respond. Seems like someone needs to be there to give the guy a hand-up into the civilized world, but why does it always have to be us? I have to believe that God has a plan and everything will work out the way it's supposed to. We'd only met Justin one time...he flew out here when C was 4 months old. I took him to the ocean for the first time in his life. He stood there with tears in his eyes--said he'd never in his whole life have imagined he'd be standing there on the shore of a magnificent ocean, let alone holding his own beautiful son.
That day (last weekend) we took Caleb out to Trinidad where the above pic was taken almost five years ago to the day. File this under "I sure am lucky to live here."
Cool Drawing!!! I bet Caleb LOVED it!!! Great photos too!!!

Prison Art has it's own style, for sure. My DH has ministered to a particular gentleman in prison for the past 4 years. Our pile of art grows each time a birthday, anniversary, etc. comes by. I am amazed at the talent. Our art has become quite special to us. Our boys love it too...we have several spiderman drawings. :o)
