I want to be able to move like this!!
Caleb and I traveled 1000 miles round trip this past weekend to attend the first birthday of my sister's child. Susan, my 50 year old sister, has (in my opinion) never felt truly, completely and perfectly loved. Nor do I believe has she ever felt safe enough to give 100% of her heart. Susan's girlfriend gave birth to Lilly a year ago and it appears to have completely transformed her life. If you knew her you'd see in this picture for yourself the clear and shining joy that she feels. I guess my point in sharing such personal information is the lesson it imparts: you just never know what tomorrow will bring, but if you keep an open heart it could be really miraculous stuff.
Another "You just never know..." My younger brother Toby, 20 years to the day younger than my older sister Susan (odd, huh?) is pictured below with his six children plus Caleb. Toby was basically raised as an only child, statistically speaking his behaviors and circumstances should have landed him an adult lifetime in prison, yet he turned it all around and is THE most wonderful father I've ever witnessed to six precious treasures. It boggles my mind. I no longer question it. I just try to learn from it. You just never know.
Here's my dad and his great grandson. They really seemed to enjoy each other's company. It was a great visit all around. Caleb is a fab travel-buddy. Just keeps popping movies into the portable dvd player. We should/probably will go more often.
What wonderful photos, and what a lovely time you had! I am so glad your visit went well and that things are good with your family. Caleb looks so VERY happy. I am sure in good part to having a loving and caring grandma!
